med update

i'm back in the USA. god bless america.

turns out I actually crunched both my feet, and fractured three vertebrae.

after 17 X-rays, 4 CT scans, and 1 MRI this seems to be the laundry list:

left calcaneus fracture - mild

right calcaneus fracture - nasty

fractures in L1, L2, and L3 vertebrae - spinal chord intact, no fluid leak

truth be told, i'm super lucky that I didn't jostle up my spine any worse. however it looks like this recovery is going to be a long term project.

doctors say it's going to be tricky walking normally again, not to mention running and ass kicking. i've got my work cut out for me.

thanks ya'll.

Yikes!!! Knowing you though you should be back to ass-kicking status much sooner than expected. My family is 20 min from DC so please let me know if you need anything. Seriously chief, shaw' drivers gotta stick together!

I hope you have a speedy recovery! I've been entertained by your Skinny Pro posts for years and found my way here through that site. Hope you heal quickly.

All, I visited Christoph at George Washington Univ. hospital yesterday. Christoph is in high spirits, and in good care.

Christoph's doc told him that, even with a successful repair of his shattered heel bone, he my not ever be able to run a marathon. Sooo, Christoph has recently added 'run a marathon' to his life to-do list.

That is the kind of fellow Christoph is.

When I arrived in his hospital room, there was some nice bluegrass music playing, and the nurses all seemed to cheer up when they walked in.

Christoph is some sort of happiness wizard.

He will be fine, and he would love to hear from us.

99% of Peace Corps volunteers are hospitalized for dysentery, but I guess that just wasn't good enough for you, eh?

Christoph Herby, life adventurer. A man encased in plaster cast. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Christoph Herby will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

You are a true adventurer! I have enjoyed following the twists and turns (and lots of laughs!) of you as a Skinny Pro, and your latest invention of self is no less exciting. You take care, heal well and don't hesitate to ask your "fans" for help. Some of us are local! :)
